Each December Burlington High School’s Spanish Club teams up with BHS Spanish classes and Madame Price’s French Club to collect food items for the annual food donation drive for the YWCA Fina House, a homeless shelter located in Lawrence, MA. On Tuesday, 17 Spanish Club members, along with Spanish Club advisor Señora Dacey and Spanish teacher Profesora De Sousa, delivered over 25 boxes and shopping bags filled with both canned and boxed food products, such as rice, beans, cereal, fruit, vegetables, soup, etc. During their visit to Fina House, students learned about its services for homeless women and men as well as the program for teenage mothers and their children. The donations are an integral part of Fina House, where it provides food for people that are in need of basic items, such as food and shelter.
After their visit, BHS Spanish Club students dined at the nearby Mexican restaurant, Café Azteca, where they enjoyed an authentic Mexican lunch in the community of Lawrence.
