Annual Gala Benefit Concert and Silent Auction

The Gala will feature The New England Tenors,
and Burlington High School students.

The Burlington High School Music Booster Association announces its seventh annual “Gala Benefit Concert and Silent Auction” to be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 3 pm in the Fogelberg Performing Arts Center at Burlington High School.

The theme for the gala is “Broadway Red Carpet” and will feature the New England Tenors, the Burlington High School Chorus, Select Singers and instrumental students.

The New England Tenors showcase the outstanding vocals of Mr. John Middleton-Cox, Mr. Jeffrey Hartman, and Mr. Stefan Barner.  The Tenors will perform a selection of Broadway favorites such as “On the Street Where You Live,” from My Fair Lady, “Go The Distance,” from Hercules, and selections from West Side Story, as well as opera and inspirational songs such as “O Sole Mio” and “You Raise Me Up.”  The Tenors will be joined onstage by the Burlington High School Select Singers and the Burlington High School chorus for an evening of exciting vocal showmanship. The vocalists will be accompanied by pianist Wayne Ward, violinist Peter Stickel and percussionist Pat Hanafin.

The doors will open at 2 pm and guests are invited to peruse the auction items and enjoy refreshments provided by LaCascia’s, The Marriott, Not Your Average Joe’s, Delicious Desserts and other local businesses.  Auction items include Celtics tickets, private lessons at the Real School of Music, tickets to the Stoneham Theater, gift certificates to local restaurants and more. The concert will commence at 3 pm.

General admission tickets for the “Gala Benefit Concert and Silent Auction” are $10 for students and seniors and $15 for adults.  All proceeds from this event will benefit the BHS Music Boosters. Tickets are available through Burlington High School chorus members, by phone at 781-A-FUN-TIC, online at Burlington Theatre, and at the door.  The Fogelberg Performing Arts Center is handicap accessible.

The Burlington Massachusetts School System is the winner of the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) award for the “Best Community for Music Education,” and is one of only seven communities in the Unites States selected to host the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus in 2014.
