2014 BHS Athletic Banquet

Thanks to the Burlington Athletics Boosters for organizing the Class of 2014 Senior Sports Banquet this past Wednesday at the Burlington Marriott.

The event was well attended by students, families, coaches, school staff, and friends of Burlington Athletics .

4 years ago the class of 2014 entered the high school and were all encouraged to be involved and invested at BHS. The students recognized last night were all involved in athletics and most were involved in many different extracurricular clubs and activities at the high school and in the community. I am certain being involved in a variety of sports or clubs enhanced their experiences at BHS and kept them motivated to do well in the classroom. The also learned important life skills through athletics.

As a former athlete I know that the teamwork, discipline, hard work, sacrifice, dealing with both success and failure, setting and striving for goals, knowing the value of practice and preparation, and overcoming adversity are all skills that definitely helped me in college and continue to help me in both my professional and personal lives. I hope these students continue to practice and refine these skills as they leave Burlington High School

In addition to all the student athletes being recognized there were several awards given out as well.

Male/Female Red Devil Award: Most spirited and dedicated to BHS Athletics and community: Nick Merlino and Kristyna Flaherty

Male/Female Most Outstanding Athlete: Jordan Matheison and Shane Farley

Male/Female Scholar Athlete: Matt Martin and Allie Hardy

All their pictures are below giving their required speech, per the direction of long standing MC Mr. Kevin Field.
