Congratulations to the wrestling, boys indoor track, and girls indoor track teams on their victories last night. With the wins, all three teams became Middlesex League Freedom Division Champions.
This is the first time in the history of the girls track program that they are league champions and the third year in a row for the boys program. Both the boys and girls indoor track teams faced Wakefield in a contest of undefeated teams for the Middlesex League Freedom Championship title.
Coach Andy Merlino's girls squad (with BPS staffers Lindsey Tigges and Erin Thorpe) won 52-34, to earn their first ever track and field championship.
The boys team won 55-31 for their third consecutive indoor track championship. The seniors on this year's team will graduate with a 23-4 record. Paul Hogan led the way on Tuesday, running the 600 meters for the first time ever, he shattered the BHS school record and posted the second fastest time this year in Massachusetts.
Paul will be running the boys scholastic mile at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on www.nbindoorgrandprix.com at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston. This meet features dozens of Olympians and has been the site of numerous World and American records. Info can be found at
