Burlington High School - Apple Distinguished School 2013-2015

I am happy, and proud, to announce that Burlington High School has once again been named an Apple Distinguished School.  This is the second year in a row that BHS has been recognized as an exemplary learning environment for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence.  This renewal for Burlington High School is now a two-year designation.

Once again we join a small group of schools (87 last year) that Apple is recognizing nationwide as exemplary learning environments.

The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for schools that have demonstrated Apple's highest vision of a successful 21st century learning environment. The selection of BHS as an Apple Distinguished School highlights its successes in enhancing and extending teaching and learning with thoughtful and innovative implementations of technology.

Schools chosen by Apple for designation as an Apple Distinguished School must demonstrate Apple's highest vision of a successful 21st century learning environment, have a strong relationship with Apple, and possess a willingness to do outreach activities. The five best practices of an Apple Distinguished School are:

  1. Visionary leadership
  2. Innovative learning and teaching
  3. Ongoing professional development
  4. Compelling evidence of success
  5. flexible learning environment

Thank you to all the staff and students of Burlington High School and the greater community of Burlington.  It is because of the tremendous talent we have on staff, the quality and character of our students, and the commitment to the young people in Burlington that Burlington High School was able to once again receive this distinction.
