Todd Ficociello of the Burlington Fire Department came up with the idea to team up with the school's Digital Publishing class, taught by George Ratkevich. He said his wife has breast cancer, as do other family members of firefighters in the department. The past few years members of the department have been sporting pink shirts in October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This year Ficociello said he thought it would be interesting to work with high school students and give them a chance to design the shirt's logo.
"I do a lot of programs with the school's," he said. "I thought this would be good to get students involved."
