The BPS EdTech Team held eight iPad 1:1 deployment sessions for the Burlington High School Class of 2017 this summer. BHS freshmen attended the sessions with their parents and received their iPads. Students and parents participated in the BPS EdTech iPad Driver’s Ed. The presentation covers important topics about the responsibility of using and maintaining a student iPad. Students and parents are informed about care, case options, insurance options, the Lightspeed Mobile Browser, and creating a positive digital identity.
Here are few highlights from the presentation:
The BPS EdTech Team recommends that students use a case that offers robust protection for the corners of the iPad.
Student behavior online can greatly affect their future. BHS students should be aware that college entrance and career opportunities can be affected by their digital identity. A positive digital footprint can help students achieve their goals.
BPS 1:1 classrooms feature Foundational Apps. Students are encouraged to get these apps and begin to explore their use before school starts. Free Foundational Apps include Google Drive, Gmail, Evernote, and Dropbox. We have found that the paid app Notability is an excellent resource as well, although it is optional.
