2013 AGGARWAL AWARD


In the Spring of 2003, the Aggarwal family established the PUSHAP LATA AGGARWAL AWARD which recognizes excellence in teaching. Every other year, teachers are nominated, a committee is formed, and a deserving nominee is selected and awarded a very generous award of $1,000 - donated by the Aggarwal family (seen at left with Mr. Matt Carr).


This year's Aggarwal Award recipient grew up in Burlington and attended the Burlington Public Schools. He has been teaching at Burlington High School since 1996.

One said Mr. Carr would hate the recognition, thus proving his selfless commitment to the students of Burlington High School.

In addition to being a History Teacher at BHS, Mr. Carr has been the Winter Track Coach for 12 years and the Spring Track Coach for the last 13 years. During this time, Mr. Carr's student athletes have received countless accolades and awards and have broken numerous state and school records.

Matt also gives much back to the community - Director of Camp Wilderness, Director of the Red Devil Challenge, Youth Lacrosse Official, Volunteer at local road races, and Director of the Recreation Department's Youth Track Program - to name just a few.

Over many years, Mr. Carr has enhanced the experience for a countless number of Burlington's youngsters. Whether is was by quietly donating athletic equipment or paying for all his students to see the movie Lincoln. Mr. Carr has been a steady, positive, and influential presence at Burlington High School
