As the 2013 Poetry Out Loud competition drives toward the February 13th finals, the English Department wishes to point out and congratulate the following accomplishments:
At the end of the 2013 Semifinals, 196 current BHS students have performed on our semifinals stage. For a complete list of those students, and their further accomplishments in this competition, click HERE. Many students further distinguished themselves this year through their repeated success, which is an increasingly difficult feat as this competition annually gets harder and harder.
This year, the following five seniors joined our elite ranks of those who have made it to the semifinals all four years: Chris Coe Marissa Coté Eddie Gelberg Katrina Gilstrap Emily Martin
In total, only 13 BHS students have ever made it to the semifinals in four straight years. Also noteworthy here is that Chris and Marissa never once failed to place in the top three in the semifinals in four years. Only three students can make that claim at BHS.
This year, Kate Arsenault became the first student to win a second Teacher’s Choice Award.
Kate was also one of the nine students who returned to the semifinals for the third time this year. The other eight are: Luke Schissler Kylie Scott Nicollette Moodie Holly Brouillette Dean Boodakian David Huynh Shabina Wigneswaran Sarah Horwitz
Congratulations to all of the above mentioned students for their successes in Poetry Out Loud at BHS!!
