Sophomore Pranav Menon Takes Poetry Out Loud Crown

Congratulations to sophomore Pranav Menon who captured this year's Poetry Out Loud title, edging last year's winner Zaven Ovian. As always, it was an amazing showing by all of the finalists who each performed two poems before an auditorium full of their peers.

Kudos to all of the finalists today - Marissa Cote, Emily Martin, Nicollete Moodie, Emily Murgo, Toula Papadopoulos, and Kylie Scott.

Special thanks as well to our judges -

Andrew Sofer - A member of the English Dept. at Boston College and a published author and poet who has acted and directed widely. Mr. Sofer has also narrated over 40 "talking books" for the Library of Congress.

Neal Minahan - This Columbia grad is an actor and trial attorney who has made a number of tv, film, and theatre appearances.  He also recently received a national award as one of the country's "Best LGBT Attorneys under 40"

Kathleen Hong - BHS Class of 2008 and two-time Poetry Out Loud semifinalist

Susan Kelley-DiSanto - BHS Library-Media Specialist, in her 6th year of judging Poetry Out Loud.

Finally, thanks to Mr. Lally and the entire English Department for their efforts in making this another successful Poetry Out Loud experience for our entire student body!
