This past weekend, Burlington High School’s Model United Nations club went to MIT for their annual Model UN conference. Seniors Walter Kikuchi, Nantia Boampong, Michelle Lee, Elizabeth Burkhart, Rick Landry, Peggy Perna, and junior Helly Soni attended the three-day conference to debate issues of international importance. Students were assigned roles and committees, which they researched prior to the conference. Committee topics ranged from child soldiers in Myanmar to nuclear transparency to South Sudanese independence.

Nantia Boampong won special recognition for her excellent work as Bosnia and Herzegovina in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Congratulations Nantia!
Thanks to our Model UN Advisor Mrs. Gould for her efforts!
