BHS Math Teacher Ann-Marie Bilotta
Can you tell us a little about your background?
I'm from Carlisle, MA. I have a B.S. (Mathematics major, Psychology minor) and a M.Ed both from UMass Amherst. Why did you become a teacher?
I've had an interest in Math my whole life and started helping my fellow students with Math in elementary school. In High School I took my first job tutoring and I enjoyed improving others understanding of Math. More importantly I loved improving the confidence of students. Many people struggle with Math and get frustrated and give up quickly, so to watch the hatred of Math shift to excitement always felt rewarding. I originally went into college as a Psychology major and planned on being a child psychologist before realizing that being a teacher could include both my love for Math and helping others. What appealed to you about Burlington High School?
I took a technology course in grad school that really opened my eyes to all the possibilities available with technology and education. The direction Burlington is moving in with technology use instantly interested me. Also the environment at BHS is very positive and supportive. I have family from Burlington too so I've been familiar with the area since I was a kid. BHS is a great school that I'm proud to be working for.Tell us something interesting about yourself.
