BHS Special Education Teacher Dennis Jackson
Can you tell us a little about your background?
I am a Burlington High graduate and I graduated from UConn in the spring of 2010. Last year, I worked at BHS as a tutor for most of the year before filling in as a Special Ed. Teacher (which is what I am currently doing).
Why did you become a teacher?
Some of the big reasons I decided to become a teacher are due to the work experiences I had during my college vacations. I worked through the Burlington Recreation Department during the summers and I always enjoyed working with kids. You could really tell when you made a positive impact and it's something I hope to continue through my work as a teacher. I also helped out at Jim Curtin's winter baseball camp and I had a lot of fun working with high school-aged kids.
What appealed to you about Burlington High School?
I grew up in Burlington and I enjoyed my time at BHS as a student. I know that I received a great education here, so it was an opportunity to work in a quality school. I currently live in Burlington, too, so that's another reason that I was excited to work here.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I help coach BHS baseball and anyone that knows me well can tell you I am a huge sports fan. I especially love to follow the Sox, Pats, Bruins, and Celts...along with my UConn Huskies, of course.
