Burlington High Softball Heads To State Title Game Saturday!

The BHS Girls Softball team improved to 23-2 with a 2-0 win over a tough Hopkinton team in the Division State Semifinals at Martin Field in Lowell tonight.  The team will take on the winner of Thursday's other State Semifinal matchup between Central MA champion Leicester and the Western MA champ (from today's Wahconah/Hampshire matchup). The Division 2 State Championship will take place o Saturday at 4 p.m. at Worcester State College.

The BHS girls continued their display of resilience playing for the third consecutive day.  Leading the way was senior Courtney Lafranchi who continued to pound the strike zone and let her fine defense make plays.  Kelly McCarthy made a couple of outstanding grabs in right field and Haley Currie continued her solid play at third base to lead the way defensively.

Offensively, BHS got the game's only two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Christina Raso ripped an RBI single to score Amber Eisenhauer and Stacey Bezreh followed with another RBI single to score Raso. (Check out video clips of the two clutch hits below).

We will have more details on the State Championship game as we get them.
