MCAS Begins Next Tuesday For 10th Graders - Late Start for All Students

This year’s 10th Grade English Language Arts MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) testing will take place next week from March 22 to March 24 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).  Additional MCAS testing in Math will be held on May 17 and 18 (Grade 10 only).  Science MCAS testing will be held on June 1 and 2 (Grade 9 only).

Burlington High School will follow a delayed opening MCAS bell schedule which will impact all students on the following dates:

Tuesday, March 22
Wednesday, March 23
Thursday, March 24

Homeroom will begin at 9:10 a.m., and the MCAS testing will start at 9:15 a.m.  School will be dismissed as usual at 2:00 p.m.  Buses will pick up students at the same time they would for a two hour delay.

Adequate rest, proper nutrition, and daily attendance directly impact student performance on the MCAS.  We encourage you to discuss the importance of these tests with your child and assist him/her in maintaining an appropriate schedule during this testing period.  Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s guidance counselor or administrator for support.

  1. What time will buses come in the morning Mr. Larkin, if HR starts at 9:10. My bus usually arrives at my place at 6:45 and gets to school at 7, a half hour before HR. So will it be coming at my stop around 8:25 am on the late start days?

  2. the mcas schedule says that homeroom is from 9:00-9:12. According to this, homeroom actually starts at 9:10. So do we have to be in homeroom at 9:10 or 9:00?
