It's Time To Collaborate On Our 1:1 Plan - Who Wants In?

It was a pleasure to speak briefly at last night's Burlington School Committee Meeting on Burlington High's plan to go to a 1:1 environment for the 2011-2012 school year.  With this move just a little more than a year away, we have a lot of planning to do.  Fortunately, we have a number of teachers who have volunteered to be part of the BHS 1:1 implementation team.  What we need now is some parent representatives and some student representatives to join the staff members who will help us map out the course for Burlington High's 1:1 journey.

While there are plenty of questions to be answered in regards to this move, I am certain that given the number of schools across the country that have already gone 1:1our questions will not be unique.  The important thing is to be sure that we connect with as many of these schools as possible as we formulate unique answers that fit the context of our situation here at BHS.

So if you are interested in playing a prominent role in this transition, please contact me at We have a core group of teachers, but we need two parents and two students to join the BHS 1:1 Implementation Team.

In the meantime, I have developed the BHS 1:1 Wiki will continue to be updated as we move along. There is also a spot for people to ask any questions that have on this exciting initiative.

  1. We can't thank you enough, Mr. Larkin, for putting your whole heart and soul into this wonder!! You have invested much quality time and care into this beneficial endeavor. You have been there for us amateurs and veterans. We have appreciated your tremendous support and continuous availability. You're always ready to give us lessons and come into our classrooms to provide training for us. That is why I am learning this tech. I couldn't do it without the phenomenal support from the BHS tech support community and you.

  2. I was hoping to see some of the work of the committee in the form of updates on the BHS 1:1 Wiki. When I log in, I can't seem to see any recent updates. Am I missing where I should look? Or is there another online resource that's more up to date with the latest discussions? I follow the blog closely and try to watch school committee meetings. But I was hoping to find more info on the work of the committee. Thanks!
