Take The No Phone Zone Pledge - It Could Save A Life, Maybe Yours?

Thanks to sophomore Walker Peterson for his efforts to raise awareness about cellphone use by drivers. As part of his Eagle Scout Project, Walker has created a campaign to remind his classmates to out down their electronic gadgets while driving.  Check out the pledge below that we will be having students sign in homeroom this week.

  2. I'm glad that we're bringing light to this, but you're making everyone sign this? Whether or not someone signs this is their choice. Yes, it's a great idea but I think forcing kids to sign it would be counterproductive.

  3. We are not making everyone sign the form. We are just asking them to sign it. I agree that forcing kids or adults to sign a pledge reduces the meaning behind the whole idea. We want students to think about the importance of this pledge and make their own choice.

  4. I signed the "Oprah No Phone Zone" pledge about a month ago. No texting, answer/making calls or talking when driving. I still catch myself wanting to reach for the phone ... but I made a choice not to. My kids will be driving soon and I want to keep them as safe as possible and I am doing that by example ... same as wearing a seatbelt or not. This high school effort is another way to to educate and help keep all drivers safer. Kudos!!!
