It's Student Government Day in Burlington - Check Out Our Student Run School Board Meeting at 10 a.m.

We will be streaming our school committee meeting live on the web at around 10 a.m. You can watch it by clicking here.  Check it out to listen in on our conversation about going to a 1:1 computing model for the fall of 2011.

  1. This is awesome!!! What a great idea of engaging our students in the real world!!!!

  2. This was such a great experience today! I'm really glad I got to participate!

  3. Thank you! Preparing our students for the world that they will encounter tomorrow is invaluable and, perhaps, a bit overdue. If we expect our students to fully adopt the concept of 1:1 computing and to further engage by advocating changes and/or improvements to their own educational plan, we (Administrators, Educators, School Committee Members, and parents) need to let them know that the dialogue must start now. These students probably hold the answers to questions we don’t even know to ask yet.

I believe Dr. Conti's comment that we need to ". . . rethink what responsibility looks like" should be applied across the board. While this may seem a bit ludicrous coming from an establishment that still keeps some of the restrooms locked, I commend that we’re headed in the right direction. Let's continue to treat our students like the responsible members of our community that they are. And my guess? They’ll continue to amaze us in profound ways.
