A number of members of the BHS boys and girls track teams earned medals this past weekend in the Division 3 State Relays Championships.
Leading the way was the girls 3 x javelin team of Kaitlyn Morneweck, Julia Pasquarella, and Kaila Camillieri. Their combined distance of 323 feet broke the 314' 1" previous mark for the best ever in Massachusetts girls track history.
The girls 4 x 400-meter relay team of Pasquarella, Camilleri, Kierstin Merlino, and Jessica McCarthy finished second in 4:08.36. The 4 x 800 team of Kristin Humphreys, Jackie Jensen, Pasquarella, and Jen Hamvas were 5th in 10:22.53.
The 3 x long jump team of Casey Landry, Merlino, and McCarthy were 5th at 47' 9". The 3 x shot put team of Ashley Steadman, Jazmine Smith, and Taylor Steinberg were 6th at 90' 6". Morneweck, Smith, and Steinberg combined for 257' 6" to take 3rd in the discus.
The boys were led in the shot put, where they placed 2 teams in the top 6. The team of Joe Hoffman, Pete Rubino, and Jyle Cullen were 1st at 137' 9.25". The team of Tim McLaughlin, Nico Blase, and Kevin Griffin were 5th at 121' 11".
Both boys distance squards took 2nd place. The 4 x mile team of Gideon Kasirye, Trevor Dutton, David Taranto and Evan Mercier finished in 19:01.14. Kasirye, Dutton, and Taranto were joined by Brian Savage in the 4 x 800 where they posted a 8:28.85.
