Happy New Year! Let's All 'Drive' BHS To A Sensational 2010

First off, Happy New Year! As many people do at this time of year, I am in the process of trying to focus my energy towards some manageable goals in an effort to ensure some concrete outcomes.

With this in mind, I was fortunate to take part in Dan Pink's teleseminar surrounding his new book Drive. I am only about 35 pages into the book which came out two days ago and I know I will be sharing pieces of it here. The book is about the "the surprising truth about what motivates us." It has huge implications for all of us who care about eduction.

But for now, I came away with two great questions we can all ask ourselves each day that can change our lives.

1. Was I better today than yesterday?
2. What do I want to be remembered for?

For me I will add a third question - What did I do today to make BHS a better school? But the fact of the matter is that what I do will be insignificant unless it something that is important to the rest of the stakeholders at BHS (Students, Staff, Parents, Community Members). Therefore, I will be asking for more REAL feedback in order to establish the type of ongoing conversation that is necessary to make our school the best it can be.

I thank you in advance for your help and am sure that 2010 will be the most amazing year yet at BHS!

  1. Putting the pal, back in principal. Mr.Larkin you're awesome

  2. Where would we be without our moms?! I am thinking that my sentence begins with that! So, Mr. Larkin, listen to your mom because she is right! You are awesome. Thank you for your constant pursuit of what will help us in the pursuit of education not just our children, but us as well!
