With this in mind, I was fortunate to take part in Dan Pink's teleseminar surrounding his new book Drive. I am only about 35 pages into the book which came out two days ago and I know I will be sharing pieces of it here. The book is about the "the surprising truth about what motivates us." It has huge implications for all of us who care about eduction.
But for now, I came away with two great questions we can all ask ourselves each day that can change our lives.
1. Was I better today than yesterday?
2. What do I want to be remembered for?
For me I will add a third question - What did I do today to make BHS a better school? But the fact of the matter is that what I do will be insignificant unless it something that is important to the rest of the stakeholders at BHS (Students, Staff, Parents, Community Members). Therefore, I will be asking for more REAL feedback in order to establish the type of ongoing conversation that is necessary to make our school the best it can be.
