Our BHS Leadership And Social Change Students Are Making A Difference Globally!!! You Can Too!!!

The students in Leadership and Social Change have just begun a service campaign addressing homelessness and hunger. Their goal is to raise awareness and to provide both direct and indirect services to various organizations that tackle these issues. They are starting with a Spare Change for Social Change fundraiser – a global effort to benefit the One Homes Many Hopes organization.

Our Leadership and Social Change students are asking their peers to remember that PEOPLE MATTER – even the people who are not in front of us. They want students to know that by donating spare change – perhaps sacrificing the daily Dunkin Donuts iced coffee for a day or two – we can change the course of these girls’ lives forever. To help, students should see the Spare Change for Social Change table outside the cafĂ©. The fundraiser will run from November 4th – November 17th.

“One Home Many Hopes” (shown in the video above) is a loving home for orphaned and abandoned girls in Mtwapa, Kenya. OHMH finds, rescues, houses, loves and educates former street children – saves them from abandonment, starvation, prison, forced marriages, and sexual traffickers - and equips them to be the future agents of change in their community. One Home Many Hopes is the difference between life and death for these girls.”

“Currently, 32 children in Kenya who were once on the street now share a small four-bedroom house. The smallest girls are sleeping four to a bunk. OHMH has outgrown its current home and they need $70,000.00 to build a stronger facility. They are not just building a building, however. They are creating the first real home most of these girls have ever had. They are building a base from which OHMH will continue its work of RESCUE, FAMILY, and TRANSFORMATION. The One Home Many Hopes philosophy is that investing in education and family support for children is the most effective way of ending cyclical poverty.”
