Record Breaking Weekend For Boys Track Team At State Coaches Relays

Members of the boys track team broke several long-standing BHS records this Saturday at the Division III State Relays Championship. Overall, the team ranked fourth in the 56 team field.

The 4 x mile team of freshman David Taranto, sophomore Trevor Dutton, junior Evan Mercier, and Senior Anthony Salvucci won in a time of 18:47.97, beating the 1983 record of 18:51.06.

The 3 x shot put team of Seniors Ryan Murphy and Brett Gilbert and sophomore Joe Hoffman had a combined distance of 142' 7.5" for second place. They bettered the record of 142' 2" from 1998.

The 3 x javelin team of seniors Mike DiFrancesco, Adam Cavlaier, and Vishal Patel also set a new record with a combined distance of 433' 5"

The 3 x long jump team of senior Shane Faria, junior Chris Farrell, and freshman Takunda Muzembe combined for a jump of 61' 0" improving the 10 year old mark of 58' 3.5".

Faria also broke the individual long jump mark with his jump of 21' 11.5"
