BHS Juniors Take Part In Annual Student Government Day

A group of BHS juniors spent yesterday shadowing elected officials, department heads, and administrators from both the Town of Burlington and the Burlington Public Schools. The students got to run a mock Board of Selectmen Meeting and a School Committee. Both of these events can be seen on BCAT in the upcoming days.

Students shadowed their counterparts for the morning and everyone convened at Cafe Escadrille for lunch. Tyler Matsubara may have had the biggest thrill of the day in getting the opportunity to have his picture taken with Tommy Lee Jones at a movie set in Burlington.

We would like to thank the Burlington Town Administrator Bob Mercier and his assistant Sandy Madigan for all of their work in making this day possible. In addition, we would like to thank Dr. Conti and his secretary Terry O'Meara for helping pull things together on the school side.

Finally, the biggest thanks goes to Social Studies Department Head Jeff Hoyt for organizing all of our students for the day. We look forward to doing it again next year!
