Burlington High School is proud to announce that Janet B. Chikofsky, a BHS Senior, has advanced to Finalist standing in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. This distinction places Ms. Chikofsky among a group of more than 15,000 students representing less than one percent of U.S. high school graduating seniors.
The National Merit Program is privately financed, and the majority of scholarships are underwritten by some 500 independent sponsor organizations and institutions. This nationwide academic competition is the largest of its kind. However, scholarship funds are limited and only about 8,200 of the Finalists will receive a Merit Scholarship award in the amount of $2,500.
