BHS Dismissing Early Today As A Precaution Due To Threats

As we informed parents last evening, we had some threatening words written on a stall in a boys' bathroom in the high school. Due to the efforts of the BHS administration and staff, we were fortunate to quickly find the individual who made the remarks.

Unfortunately, during the investigation we found that there had also been comments about a device being built. With this new information it was recommended by our regional School Threat Assessment and Response System (STARS) team, which is made up of regional law enforcement members, that we do an evacuation and complete search of the school with dogs to fully ensure the safety of our staff and students.

We concur with any recommendations that will help ensure the safety of our staff and students and thank the Burlington Police and the STARS team for their support.

We will follow up with a connect-ed message and an update here on the BHS blog once we confirm that our school is free from any device that would harm staff, students, or visitors.
