Junior Parent Night Next Thursday - 2/12/09

Dear Parents:

As parents of soon to be high school seniors, you are rapidly becoming familiar with the college selection process. The college selection process can make the senior year very stressful for both parents and students. On February 12, 2009 beginning at 6:30 PM in the Burlington High School auditorium, the BHS Guidance Department will be presenting a college planning night to junior students and parents.

The BHS Guidance Department feels senior year pressure can be reduced with advanced planning and research. Much can be accomplished during the spring and summer months. Prospective colleges and universities can be visited and toured, testing plans can be formulated and additional test preparation can also be conducted.

One additional method to reduce stress is to fully utilize our comprehensive guidance website, TCCi Family Connection, also called Naviance. Students and parents will find extensive collegiate information designed to help in making decisions about courses, colleges and careers. All members of the Class of 2010 have been granted access to the website. The address is: Parents will also be given details on how to access the program at the college planning presentation.

Post high school planning is an important and often complicated task for students and parents. The Guidance Counselors look forward to serving as a resource for students and parents as well as assisting in the decision-making process. As always please feel free to call your son’s or daughter’s counselor for help and support.
