BHS Boasts Impressive Finish At Lowell Holiday Tournament

Timberlane NH won the tournament with 253 points, Burlington High finished in second place in the field of over 50 teams at the Lowell Holiday Tournament. Timberlane (NH) won the tourney with 253 points while Lowell placed third with 194 points.

This is Burlington's highest finish since winning the tournament in 1982.
Kevin Barrucci, who recently picked up his 100th career win, became the 4th Red Devil to win the Lowell Holidays (Dave Moon '04, Jeremy Royds '93 and Rick Coveno '82). The two-time state champ (140 lbs) beat Colin Crowell of Pinkerton Academy (NH) 11-2 in the finals.

Other Burlington results were as follows: Matt Sherman (130 lbs) finished second, pinning Dave Owens of Pinkerton Academy in the semis then losing 11-1 to Alex Smith of Timberlane in the finals.

Greg Romagna (189 lbs) finished second, beating Andrew Sutherland of Dracut 2-1 in the semi's before losing to Zack Lattrell of Central Catholic 5-3 on a last second take down.

Jake Sherman (125 lbs) finished 3rd, losing to James Herlihy or Pinkerton Academy 5-4 in the semi's but beating New England finalist Cam Sullivan of Timberlane 9-8 for 3rd place.

John Murphy (119 lbs) finished 4th, losing to Tom Despard of Southwick by pin. John had 5 pins this weekend.

Alex Giampapa (171 lbs) finished 5th, winning over Alex Najjar of Shawsheen by injury default.
Alex lost early Saturday and won 4 straight matches to finish in the top 6.

Peter Flemming (103) Tyler Matsubara (112) and Christian Francois (160) all won 5 matches
Mike Keating (135) went 3-2.

John Carrabino (215) and Jason Hubbard (152) finished 2-2
and Brendan Rigby (145) won 1 match.
