Will BHS Be The Last School In The League To Get Turf?

The Burlington Union recently republished an article on the topic of a new turf field here at BHS.
Click on the link to read the entire article: School officials explore artificial grass
Here is an up date on other Middlesex League Schools and their current status in regards to artificial turf and which sports benefit:

BELMONT – 1 field (football, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse)
BURLINGTON – discussion stage
LEXINGTON – 3 fields (soccer, field hockey, lacrosse)
MELROSE – 2 fields with Malden (football practice, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, baseball)
READING – 3 fields (football, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse)
STONEHAM - discussion stage
WAKEFIELD - discussion stage
WATERTOWN - discussion stage
WINCHESTER – Approved 1 field (football, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse)
WOBURN - 2 fields (football, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse)

  1. Stoneham barely has enough money to pay for their sports. They should fund for athletics before discussing how to get a turf field

  2. Given the blog post immediately before this one and the Superintendent's blog post regarding budget concerns for next year, I think we can put up with an old fashioned muddy field for a couple of games in lieu of spending money on turf and having to possibly make cuts in educational expenditures.
