BHS Girls Get RAD Training
Thanks to the support of the Burlington Police Department, our high school girls have the opportunity to go through Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) training as part of the Health Curriculum. Tom Fournier and Ann-Marie Brown, two certified RAD trainers come in at various times throughout the year to show our girls some basic self-defense moves that we all hope they will never have to use.
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.
