Special Guest Highlights BHS Veterans Day Ceremony

Kyle Camilleri shakes hands with Mr. Baker after the ceremony.

BHS held its annual Veterans Day assembly this morning. We always look forward to this annual opportuntiy to publicly thank all of our local veterans for their service to our country. Our guest speakers were State Representative Charles Murphy, Middlesex County Sheriff James DiPaola, and VFW District 18 Commander Joseph Stavolta.

The highlight of the ceremony, however, was the introduction of Mr. Don Baker, a Vietnam Veteran who was paralyzed during his time of service to our country. Sheriff DiPaola invited Mr. Baker and shared his story with the crowd of over 1,000 in the BHS gymnasium. Mr. Baker received a lengthy standing ovation from our staff and students and told the students afterwards that their actions had renewed his faith in America's youth.

The veterans were complimentary of our students after the ceremony, commenting on our band, chorus, and entire student body for their wonderful show of support. They also enjoyed the touching essay on being the daughter of a veteran presented by Ariana Hall.

Middlesex County Sheriff James DiPaola talks with Paul Conceison and Ryan Murphy.

Mr. Baker's 14 military service medals, including a purple heart.
