Shaw's Supermarket Donates $5,000 To BHS Fitness Center Fund

Burlington High School announced today that, as part of the effort to raise money for the renovation project of Burlington High School’s Fitness Center, Shaw’s Supermarkets has awarded Burlington High School a check in the amount of $5,000. This donation will help service student athletes, faculty and youth programs.

“Shaw's has a long rich history supporting causes that affect our communities, both monetarily and through volunteer efforts, and this is no exception.” said Larry Wahlstrom, President of Shaw’s. “We look forward to supporting the residents of Burlington and the surrounding towns for many years to come.”

The modern fitness facility will feature 30 cardiovascular machines, a mat area for stretching, step aerobics, and yoga, a teaching area providing students and teachers with a central location to aid instruction and management, and an extensive weight room.

Shaw’s, a 143-year-old company with its roots firmly planted in New England, supports hundreds of local programs throughout the Northeast. The donation was presented to Mr. Larkin at the Burlington store by the store manager, Mr. Steve Duran. Mr. Larkin stated "We hope to raise approximately $350,000 to fund this potentially life-altering project for the students of Burlington High School. We are proud to have Shaw’s Supermarkets as a benefactor and thank them for their support."
